Our 4th

Jason and Kenny cooking fish.
Getting ready for fireworks.
Tyrel, our bomb tech.
think we have enough??
Cole, Lindsay and Lainey playing rock band.

Our fourth of July was quite interesting. We were going to go camping at Lake Murray with our winery friends, but when they went to get us some spots the monday before the 4th all of them were taken. :( We called around and found out that all the spots were taken at Arbuckle, Clear Creek and Duncan lake as well. Then someone came up with the idea that we should just take our campers to the winery.... so that is what we did. We had a fish fry on Friday at the winery followed by fireworks. Saturday some of us went to Winemaker's house for a pool party and steaks, we had alot of fun but we are all worn out. Oh yeah.... the camper is MUCH better than a tent!!

R.V.

I'm sure most of you have heard about our last camping trip. Turns out I will be doing more camping. Since our trip , the Mr. decided that we need a camper. One that dosen't leak and has an AC. I on the other hand have a hard time spending money on something that will get used so rarely, however , we finally found on we could agree on. So... we are the proud owners of an 84 model camper trailer! I don't know how long it is but it's tiny. It is in really good shape, has had one owner...an older couple. She ain't pretty, but she has no leaks and a good AC. They also kept it in a barn so it has held up well. Plus it was in our price range!! I might become a camper after all.....MAYBE! Now if I could just get rid of that piece of junk in my yard that used to be a camper I would be doing good. ;)

Lake trip.

In reply to Pipers comment.... the lake trip was NOT fabulous!! We did have fun though, except for the RAIN, it goes a little something like this.
Memorial weekend we went to lake Murray with our wineaux buddies, we took Chara along for entertainment. We arrive at Camp Legends on Saturday morning around 10 ish... everyone is just starting to stir from a long night of campfire chat. Winemaker starts breakfast..... more like lunch, and we all eat a great meal of camp hash, something we eat all the time at our house, it consists of all the essential ingredients: eggs, sausage, potatos, onion...served with Texas toast. Then we take the boat out for awhile. Chara, Lindsey and Bonnie ride the tube. Chara was bummed because Bob wouldn't dump her off. That evening we had fried squash, brisket, baked beans and roasted onions. YUM!! Chara and Bob played guitar and sang as we all relaxed with our wine slushies that Debbie made.
Time for bed! We are all worn out and hot and sooo tired, but wait.... there are storms comming. We get the camp all settled we think everything will be ok. We go to bed, our tent shouldn't leak...we have the rain cap on. Oh yeah everyone else has camper trailers. About midnight I hear the wind change directions.... here comes Chara. "I'm gonna get in the car" she says. Jason says we will stay in the tent " we'll be fine!" The rain starts..... about 20 min pass and then starts the dripping. I am wet, sunburned and exausted. Oh yeah, I don't like camping either even on a good day, so I'm pretty grumpy. jason finally says let's get in the car. We get in the car which is completely full of most of our gear because we are cooking for the whole camp the next day. So here we are.. the 3 of us ... in the car. It's Hot! We can't open the windows because the rain comes in. I swear I'm never camping again. Everyones campers are full, so we can't get in anywhere. Finally the rain stops, Chara says "I'm gonna go sleep on the boat". After tossing and turning and rearranging about a million times I finally doze off about 5 a.m. Daybreak.... I give up, I'm gonna take a shower. It was like heaven. I feel better. We get around, then everyone else starts stirring about 9 a.m. " How did ya'll sleep?? Did it rain much??" I think I will kick everyone in the chins!! LOL!! Just kidding. We make breakfast, French toast, sausage and eggs. Everyone is happy. Chara started a water fight... more like a war. The guys played horseshoes, then we go for more boating. We had fajitas for supper which everyone said we should sell. We decided we should charge admission for food and entertainment, we could make some money!
By this time we are REALLY tired so Jason , Chara and I head home. All in all we had fun, but I'm still not much of a camper ;)

I tried to post some pic's but it won't cooperate with me..... Maybe I'll try later.

Slump

Hello to all my blog buddies! It has been awhile, which leads me to this post. I have been noticing that several of us are in a blogging slump. It would seem to me that most of us have somewhat lost interest in staring at our pc's and have found better things to do or maybe we are just un-inspired.....I dunno. I think my reason is that there is too much sunshine to be cooped up in the corner pecking away on the keyboard. Anyhoo... you probably won't hear much from me unless it is fabulous.

Festival

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I just haven't done anything blog worthy.
This weekend is the festival out at the winery. Chara is going to be singing , so you should all come out. It's only going to cost $5 to get in and there will be music, food, wine, beer, pop and water. I think Chara goes on at about 5 p.m. so come out early and get a good spot. Oh yeah, bring a comfy lawn chair..... hope to see ya there.

Vineyard Update.

There really isn't much to tell just yet. Nothing is happening, we still just have sticks in dirt. We have decided not to name it yet. I guess we are like expectant parents not wanting to name the baby just in case. We don't want to jinx it LOL!
Mr. Brewer has started his first batch of wine, it is apricot. We started it Sunday, I will keep you posted on that as well. It should take a few months before it is ready. It has been a fun process already, and man it takes alot of sugar.... no wonder it makes your butt big.
Mr. the Diva and I all have "wine school" tonight so there will be more on that later. I think I am going to stay in the house today and hide from the wind.... my allergies are killin me. LATER :)

Brain Fog

As most of you know I have been dealing with migraines for awhile now, which leads me to this post. This will not be a rant... at least I don't think so, we shall see. Here we go.

I have decided to stop taking my migraine medication... I am just tired of the side effects. I'm not really sure that it is helping all that much anyway. I have been taking Topamax for about 6 months, and as far as I can tell the only effect it has had is to make me scatterbrained. I feel like the scarecrow from the wizard of oz. I used to be a great multitasker, a real duck in a row type person. Now most days I'm not sure where my ducks are or even if I have ducks. Just ask the Diva that is VERY unlike me. Also it makes me not really give a flip about anything if it isn't happening in my personal bubble..... also unlike me. Not to mention the fact that I can't taste anything, or spell..... or remember peoples names. So.... I have halved my dose and have been doing that for about a week, so far so good. Next week I shall do the same until the dosage is small enough that I can stop all together. Keep me in your prayers and hopefully the fog will lift :)

The Royal Family

I was working at the La La yesterday when to my surprise the Royal Family came through the door. It was a nice surprise, the day had been rather dull as not many customers had been in. They were on their way home from a checkup on the Queen an the new Prince and decided to pop in and say hi. Piper was fired up with ideas for vineyard names.... he has some pretty good ones that he told me about. I'm sure he will share them with you in due time. What I really wanted to say is how much I miss the Princesses... they have grown so much! There was a time when they parked their Rv in our yard for awhile until they decided on a castle. During that time I got to know the girls quite well. This was all before the Prince came along. HRHTDP was just starting to show the drama princess in her... her favorite lines were " I'm a bootiful pwincess " and " No Cole you're a stinky boy!" P#2 on the other hand was a tiny thing. She learned to crawl then walk in my living room, and she would do anything for a cheez-it. Times do change, and peoples lives take different direction, but at least we can still get together on occasion to catch up :)

Need a Name

I forgot to mention yesterday that we are trying to decide on a name for the vineyard. If ya'll have any great ideas please let me know! It's on the side of a hill..... but we don't really want to go with something bland such as " Hill side" Or " Brewer" The Mr. suggested "wildhorse" but I said no to that as well. Dazzle me with your creativity, piper I'm sure you will come up with something interesting.

Vineyard

It appears as though the Mr. is really going to go through with this vineyard thing. I keep thinking maybe it's all talk and that it will all blow over, but we have got part of it planted..... so here we go. Bonnie, a good friend of ours, told me that grapes like alot of sun and that they like to struggle. We should have the BEST grapes!!! Our soil is so bad , it is a mixture of grey clay and rock. Winemaker says they will grow , so that is all the encouragement Mr. Brewer needed. We have enough space to do about seven 120 ft. rows. This year I think we will start with 2. We have Cabernet and Chardonnay I'm not sure if we will stick with those two types or if we will do others... perhaps Merlot. I haven't taken pic's yet.... when I do I will post them, as for my senior pic. I haven't seen any of those in forever..... maybe diva has some.

Save The Vines!

Last night was a long one indeed, at least for some. Mr. Brewer and I along with Danger Boy spent the night with Winemaker at the winery trying to keep the vines from getting frost damage and / or dying. The vines have started blooming and with the low temps last night not only were we in danger of losing the grape crop for the year, but, there was a great danger of losing the vines as well. Winemaker was really worried, but he has good redneck friends. We had nearly 30 barrels that we filled with anything that would burn and scattered them throughout the front vineyard. That kept that one safe, as for the rest, Winemaker spent the night on the tractor with the sprayer. There is a special chemical you can spray but it only gives you a couple of degreese protection. Anyway we think that most of the vines made it. Winemaker and Mr. Brewer are very sleepy this morning as they were awake all night. It must not have been too bad though because Mr. Brewer brought home vine starts....I guess we are going to start our own vineyard.

Boyscout Recap

I have a correction to make! The fourth place that they won was only in the knot tying competition. There were 18 different competitions, everything from war paint to knife throwing to sign language. I don't remember everything. What it all boils down to is out of 18 events, our troop placed in 16 and out of the 16... 7 of them were 1st place. One of those awards goes to Dalton for 3rd place den cheif. We also won the big award for camp spirit, and the boys all earned their polar bear patch for the temp getting down to 32 Friday night. I was cold down by the water!!! We have crossover next meeting as all of the boys advance to the next rank......so if anyone has boys who would like to join now is a great time. Til next time.... :)

Cole-isms...

Cole dosen't usually use words incorectly but yesterday on the way to boyscout camp, I guess because he was so excited he had a couple of lines that I just have to share with you guys. First of all Sunday is his birthday so he has some cash on him that has been sent in the mail. He wanted to take it to camp with him, and I told him that he didn't need it and he said " but Mom they are going to have a confession stand!" I just laughed and said Ok then you can take 5 bucks. However I did ask him what he was going to confess and he got embarassed. Then later in the day he asked me why I wasn't spending the night with him and Dad at camp, and I told him because girls aren't allowed to sleep at boyscout camp. He said..."I'll get you some fake whispers, and you can make a beard." I said " you mean whiskers?" he said " whatever...you know what I'm talkin bout."

I went and hung out with the guys for a while today. They are all very tired, dirty, hungry and a few of them are sun burned, but they are all having a great time. Our troop placed 4th out of 13 troops so that is pretty good concidering most of our boys are really young. We are pretty proud. Dalton Matthews was our den cheif, that means he is like a big brother that came to visit and help out, because parents and the scout master are not allowed to help during any compitition or event. Many thanks to Dalton! Well I'm tired and I have a birthday to get ready for tomorrow so off to bed I go! Goodnight :)

Knights of the Vine

We held our first Knightly meeting last night at the winery. It was very enjoyable. Winemaker took it a step further than I even thought he was going to. I knew the meetings were going to be very informative and that he was going to explain alot about the wines that we were tasting but he is taking things a step further, which I really appreciate. He is taking us all the way from the vine to the bottle. This week he discussed bottle shapes and colors, what shapes and colors go with what wines and how it all got started and so on. Each meeting we will have a different topic before we begin our tasting. This will help with our appreciation of wine even if we don't like a perticular kind at least we will be able to enjoy it's qualities. I for one like to know what I'm doing and why in order to feel like I'm doing something well, but that's just me. Healso said at some point we will get to taste Opus One. That stuff runs any where from 150 to 300 per bottle. That my friend is worth my membership fee right there.
The menu last night were all red zinfandels. I learned that I am not a big fan of red zin, however, I did find two that were drinkable. Here is our list...
#1 A. Mano
#2 Sutter Home
#3 Francis Ford Copola
#4 Gnarly Head
#5 Dancing Bull
#6 Legends

Of course Legends won! No really... He didn't even want us to tast his because it wasn't finished he pulled it straight out of the barrel....unfiltered....and it smelled soooooooo good the aroma was to die for, chocolate and cinnamon like I can't even find words to describe. It is also so much smoother than the others almost like velvet, which makes it not like a red zin at all, so he says it is an unfair comparison. Therefore if you take that on out of the mix, I'm not a big red zin fan, but, Francis Ford Copola was in my opinion definately drinkable. I think everyone else agreed as well, it seemed to be the most popular of the evening......other than Winemakers.

Blah..

Feeling a bit gloomy today. Must be the weather, I need to be doing a dozen things but I just can't quite seem to find the motivation. I would much rather be taking a nap, or reading other peoples blogs. I can't even think of anything creative to say here ! I need some of Lou's sudafed.

Wind

Wind, wind, go away.... I am loving the warm weather, however I am not loving the sinus problems. My ears hurt, my eyes hurt and I can't breath. The Zyrtec and Nazacort are of no help. My allergy Dr. tells me I don't have allergies. At this point I'm thinking maybe I need psychiatric help. Because unless I've gone completely psycho it feels like allergy season to me. It is time to prune at the winery. The winemaker is willing to teach any eager to learn souls. He is always up for free help, if you are lucky you might even get a free sample ;)

Spell Check

I really need to find a spell check thingy. LOL!!! Is there one on here somewhere? It is kind of ironic that I won my first grade spelling bee, because it has gone down hill since then. Then again the only reason I won was because I was the only kid smart enough to read backwards. They had written on the cards with a black marker it had bled through. Duh!

Idol chatter.

I admit it. I'm an Idol fan, it's my one flaw. Punish me. That being said, my picks for top three are as follows: David Cook, Carlie Smithson, and Brook whats her face. I don't have a forth person.... it's a toss up. David is my fav. I think he should win. Carlie or is it Carly? Whatever, she is just flat out cool , and very consistent. Brook, I so did not want to like her in the beginning, but she has really surprised me. I kinda like her now, she has some real talent. There is one other that I should mention. I really like Jason funky hair. My little sister has some major crushing going on there. I think he is cool. I don't think he has what it takes to make it, but he will find his own little nich. Oh yeah by the way....David Cook also has some origional stuff out on project playlist if anyone is interested. That's all I have to say about that :)

Off and running...

Well, more like walking quickly. I think I have kinda figured this thing out.Next I shall learn to post pictures! Baby steps LOL! Danger Boy isn't feeling well today, the high pollen and wind are taking their toll on the poor boy.He thinks he will be well enough for boy scouts tonight but we shall see. He has not moved much today and he keeps going to sleep.Benadryl has that effect.I myself have been feeling the effects of the wind.As a matter of fact....I think I'm going to go find some tissue.

Well here we go!

With much prodding by my friends I am going to give this blogging thing a shot. Not much to say today other than Piper, I have crossed over to the dark side. So wish me luck till I get my blog legs!
